Welcome to Australia
New citizens are welcomed with heart-felt messages from our visitors.

The Museum of Australian Democracy acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the elders past, present and emerging.
The museum respectfully acknowledges the role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to play in shaping Australia’s democracy.

We were thrilled to receive a visit from Sophie Deane and her family yesterday. Sophie took the (by now) well known photo of Julia Gillard that has been adopted for use on Ms Gillard’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
A recent addition to our collection is this photo, taken in 1911, of the Bathurst Football Club rugby union team, including future prime minister of Australia J. B. Chifley.
The last prime minister to serve in the House - the Hon RJL Hawke AC - in the exhibition Australian Democracy - More than 2000 Years in the Making.
