The Museum of Australian Democracy acknowledges the traditional owners and custodians of country throughout Australia. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to the people, the cultures and the elders past, present and emerging.

The museum respectfully acknowledges the role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples continue to play in shaping Australia’s democracy.

Creating a transformative experience is at the heart of what we do within this extraordinary building, and our volunteers play a vital part in helping us to achieve this.

Volunteers work in excess of 5,000 hours each year, helping visitors to engage with the heritage spaces and contemporary exhibitions, as well as providing support for our major events.

Could you imagine yourself helping us as a volunteer?

    Young volunteers

Do you have an interest in politics, history, arts or culture?

MoAD is offering uniquely flexible volunteering opportunities for 18-25 year olds.

Young volunteers get the chance to engage with visitors, create amazing experiences in our exhibition spaces, and contribute to some of the biggest events on the MoAD calendar.

You'll gain real-world skills, build your professional network and learn more about events production and museum work.

You can be involved for a few days or a year, whatever suits your schedule.

Young volunteers can contact us at volunteers@moadoph.gov.au to find out more and register your interest in the program.

    Volunteer guides

Our volunteer guides are ambassadors for MoAD, helping visitors to engage with the heritage spaces and contemporary exhibitions as well as providing support for our major events.

Volunteer guides lead more than 1400 guided tours through Old Parliament House each year.

Are you interested in Australia’s political and social history, and current affairs?  Do you enjoy meeting people? Perhaps volunteering at MoAD might be right for you.

While we only take on new volunteer guides on an 'as needed' basis, expressions of interest are accepted all year round. Sign up
