During the 2025 election campaign, the Trumpet of Patriots party, which was backed by billionaire Clive Palmer, sent unsolicited text messages to multitudes of voters, despite those voters not signing up to any mailing list. The messages, which infuriated many Australians, were authorised by Harry Fong, the party’s lead Senate candidate for Queensland.
