Anthony by Lamplight

David Rowe specialises in cultural references, both pop and high. This one refers to the scene in the Hollywood musical film Singing in the Rain in which Gene Kelly’s character performs a joyous song-and-dance despite all the difficulties he is facing. This cartoon was published at the beginning of the election campaign, but Anthony Albanese’s optimistic frolic could now, post-election, be read as one of prophetic celebration.
