In September a UN Commission of Inquiry released a report stating that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. It detailed the targeting of citizens, including children, in far larger numbers than in previous conflicts; the blocking of medical aid, food and water; and acts aimed at ‘deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part’. The Israeli government rejected the report, saying it relied ‘entirely on Hamas falsehoods’.
